*Brain-like electronics*
Se envía a continuación un breve resumen:
The presence of neurons and synapses is a unique characteristic of the
biological brain. We explore the electrical response of self assembled
Ag-PVP based nanowire (NW) networks as a hardware platform to perform
computational tasks in a brain inspired (neuromorphic) way.
The electrical circuit is modeled as a random network consisting of
resistors (the NWs) and memristors (formed at the NW-NW junctions). The
motivation is both morphological and functional, as memristors emulate
synaptic processes: they can codify "weights" in their non volatile
resistance values.
Nanowires have a metallic core (Ag) and an insulating wrapper (PVP). Under
the influence of low electric field the Ag ions realize Conductive
Filaments (CF) across the insulating layer. Upon increasing the stimulus
the NWs can electrically connect and disconnect as a result of the
competition between field induced electromigration of Ag ions - that
builds up CFs- and their heat induced dissolution. By biasing the system at
this noisy regime, the Resistive Switching effect becomes the source of
spikes. Interestingly, the dynamics of the formation and disruption of
filaments unveils collective properties of the system.
We show that - by properly driving the stimulus- it is possible to have
both neuron emulators and synapse emulators in the same sample. This fact
envisages a brain inspired electronics capable of processing information
"in materia" triggered by external stimulus that biases neurons, which in
turn produce spikes that modulate their synaptic weights.
Thus, the capability of learning emerges as a natural consequence of
receiving and processing information. In this scenario neuromorphic
computation capabilities with additional functionalities are envisaged.
Sobre el disertante:
Pablo Levy (born 1962) is Principal Research Professor at CNEA, CONICET and
UNSAM (Argentina), where he presently leads research at the Devices and
Sensors Group (CNEA-Bariloche), and at the School of Science and Technology
(UNSAM-Buenos Aires). His professional interest focuses on device physics:
electrical transport in condensed matter (experimental and modelling). He
is co-author of 100 + publications, has supervised 12 PhD Theses and has
been the leader of several research projects (Manganitas, MeMO, LaboSat,
CEpAS, NeNA, RdM) and related conferences (MMMM06, EPICO2012, WAS2018). His
work has focused on the fabrication and characterization of emerging
electronic devices for applications in hostile environments (aerospace,
nuclear) and memristors for neuromorphic computing.
Saludos cordiales,
