Dear colleagues,
Could you please circulate the below to potentially interested candidates?
-------------------
Applications are invited for an *Assistant Professor of Geometry and
Mathematical Physics
<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://edzz.fa.em3.oraclecloud.com/hcmUI/CandidateExperience/en/sites/CX_6001/job/6342/?utm_medium=jobshare&utm_source=External*Job*Share__;Kys!!D9dNQwwGXtA!RKcnmziqOXaV3YPWavR2T8bfPD6pOQ-hWtQEdtwr3Mj5A_PuFXSG_y8jIP8YrS2mpXPjbZ_K_k8_EMq3QZg$>* in
the School of Mathematics at the University of Birmingham, UK. Deadline:
2 March 2025.
Note that Assistant Professor (formerly called Lecturer) is the
entry-level permanent academic position in the UK. The minimal
qualification is a PhD in mathematical or physical sciences. Some
independent research experience (i.e. postdoctoral experience) would
generally be expected.
The Geometry and Mathematical Physics group at UoB
<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.birmingham.ac.uk/research/activity/mathematics/geometry-mathematical-physics/index.aspx__;!!D9dNQwwGXtA!RKcnmziqOXaV3YPWavR2T8bfPD6pOQ-hWtQEdtwr3Mj5A_PuFXSG_y8jIP8YrS2mpXPjbZ_K_k8_2rIOFu4$> currently
hosts 5 academic staff, 2 postdoctoral researchers, a teaching fellow
and 7 postgraduates. The group currently conducts research across
algebraic geometry, integrable systems, and high-energy theoretical
physics. The successful candidate will expand and complement the group’s
current research portfolio and contribute to the wider teaching of
mathematics within the School.
Full consideration will be given to applicants with research interests
in any area of Geometry and Mathematical (and Theoretical) Physics and
applicants with specialisms in algebraic geometry, symplectic geometry,
*string theory, supersymmetric quantum field theory,* and related areas
are especially invited to apply. *Please include a CV (with publication
list, highlighting 4 significant publications and three references to
contact at interview stage) and a research statement in your application.*
