Dear Colleagues,
allow us to ask you to take note of the open positions below and please
share the information with interested candidates.
Apologises if you receive this announcement more than once.
Best regards,
Vincent and Roman
Postdoctoral positions at LLR and IJCLab to work on 5D calorimetry,
5D calorimetry will combine detailed information on particle showers
provided by imaging calorimeters (CALO) with precise time information at
the cell level, in addition to space and local energy. The information
will be used both classically and with the assistance of modern machine
learning algorithms to improve the performance of energy reconstruction
and particle flow algorithms. The capability of the tools will be
demonstrated with performance studies on selected physics channels
central to the physics case of future Higgs factories. The results of
this project will have a fundamental impact on the design of the
next-generation high-energy physics experiments. To our knowledge, this
will be the first project worldwide to address the application of timing
in calorimeters at future Higgs factories in a consistent and
coordinated way within a single project.
The projects offers several postdoc positions with durations between two
and three years in France. The places of work will be either LLR,
Palaiseau, or IJCLab, Orsay. The close collaboration entails frequent
travel between the German and French partners including longer stays at
the partner institutes.
For the postdoctoral positions we expect a PhD degree in particle
physics or similar not older than two years.
The salaries commensurate with the laws in France for early-career
researchers and will include access to social welfare.
The recruitment policy of the project will pay special attention to
promote gender balance and diversity. We consider both elements as an
asset for the success of the project. We support the goal of increasing
the percentage of women in academic positions and strongly encourage
female scientists to apply.
For an expression of interest please send a letter of motivation and a
CV to
Roman Pöschl (roman.poeschl en ijclab.in2p3.fr) and
Vincent Boudry (boudry en llr.in2p3.fr)
We would also like to ask you to also name two persons ready to write
letters of recommendation.
Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.
Best regards,
Vincent and Roman
