Physics, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz

Dear Colleague,

The Faculty of Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science invites
applications for an appointment at the level of

University Professor in Theoretical Elementary-Particle Physics

Salary grade W2 LBesG, Civil servant (tenured)

beginning on October 1st, 2024.

We seek to appoint a researcher of international repute in theoretical
elementary-particle physics with established potential for outstanding
future contributions to the field. Strong expertise is expected in one
or more research areas of particular importance in contemporary
high-energy physics, such as effective quantum field theories, flavor
physics, collider physics, and precision calculations. The successful
candidate should complement and extend the existing research activities
in theoretical particle and astro-particle physics in Mainz. Close
collaboration is de-sired with the research groups in the PRISMA+
Cluster of Excellence, which explores profound questions on the
structure of matter, fundamental interactions, and their relevance to
the physics of the universe.

The appointment requires participation in teaching activities in the
Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science, where the field of
theoretical physics needs to be covered in its full breadth. Applicants
should have initial teaching experience and be prepared to further
develop their pedagogical commitment and didactic skills. In addition to
the general requirements according to public services law, applicants
must meet the recruitment requirements stipulated in Section 49 of the
Hochschulgesetz of Rhineland-Palatinate…

Please find all requirements and more details attached. The submission
deadline for applications, including a cover letter, academic CV, list
of publications and courses taught, further information (on external
funding, awards, etc.), teaching evaluations, and certificates as well
as a statement of research and a teaching statement is May 2nd, 2024.

For questions and further information, please contact Univ.-Prof. Dr.
Matthias Neubert by email:
