ICSTCF 2021 DEADLINE EXTENDED
We have extended deadlines for both posters and contributed talks to
the International Conference on Science and Technology of Complex Fluids
(ICSTCF) 2021. The conference will be held October 25-28, 2021 by Zoom.
The ICSTCF 20201 has a very important tradition in Mexico, it gathers
scientists interested in soft matter topics. This conference also
encourages the participation of young undergrad and graduate students.
Posters and oral talks contributions are welcome DEADLINE EXTENDED TO
October 10th.
Confirmed speakers and program at:

POSTDOC POSITION AVAILABLE IN TORONTO, CANADA
I am seeking a statistical physicist with a background and interest in
numerics to work on two projects: (i) an inference problem, in
collaboration with molecular biologists, using data on protein-protein
interaction networks. Can we make sense of experimentally measured data
on P-P interactions? (ii) the origin of life from inanimate matter. How
do we describe life as a phase of matter?
The position is available immediately, subject only to visa
regulations, and does not carry any teaching duties. I am flexible
regarding work-from-home arrangements. If interested please send your
CV.

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE POSITION (16 MONTHS) ON "THE FUTILITY OF BEING
SELFISH" AT THE COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING & PHYSICAL SCIENCES, ASTON
UNIVERSITY, UK
We are looking for a highly motivated individual for a Research
Associate position in the general areas of statistical physics and
Bayesian inference. In this project we employ theoretical and numerical
methods from Bayesian statistics, game theory and statistical physics to
study the impact of selfish and localised decisions on optimisation in
routing and related areas.
Further details on the position can be found on
https://jobs.aston.ac.uk/Vacancy.aspx?ref=R210395
Closing date for applications: 31 October 2021.

WEBINARS FROM SIMONS COLLABORATION ``CRACKING THE GLASS PROBLEM''
Starting next Wednesday the 6th of October, the Simons Collaboration on
Cracking the Glass Problem [1] will resume its series of online
seminars, with 2 talks held per month. Topics will range from glasses
and disordered systems to soft matter and statistical physics in
general. We will begin on the 6th of October at 17:30 Paris time with a
talk by Martin van Hecke, on "Hysterons, Memory, and Computing". When
future speakers are confirmed, they will be visible on our website,
https://scglasswebinars.wixsite.com/home.
To receive the zoom links for the seminars, please join our mailing
list by sending an email to:
