LUNES 7/10, 10:30HS.
LUGAR: IFLYSIB (59 #789, LA PLATA)
TÍTULO: EPITHELIAL PLANAR BIPOLARITY: A PHENOMENON AT THE INTERPHASE OF
BIOLOGY AND PHYSICS_ _
EXPOSITOR: HERNÁN LOPEZ-SCHIER
Research Unit Sensory Biology & Organogenesis. Helmholtz Zentrum
München, 85764 Munich; Germany
RESUMEN:
Most studies on epithelial planar polarity have focused on tissues with
identically oriented cells. Consequently, the mechanisms that underly
bipolar orientation of cells remain unknown. We have used in toto live
imaging, genetics and mechanical manipulations and machine learning to
decrypt epithelial planar bipolarity. I will show how a highly
choreographed cellular movement within the epithelium of the zebrafish
lateral line forms part of a three-tiered mechanism by which the default
symmetric monopolar organization of the tissue is broken through a
combination of stochastic and deterministic processes.
