CALL FOR POSTDOC COMPETITION 

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology of Universidad San Sebastián,
Campus Valdivia, calls for theoretical physicists interested in applying
for the Postdoctoral Research Grant, FONDECYT 2019, to be announced in

Our faculty, Campus Valdivia, will sponsor two candidates in this
competition. The awarded candidates must publish scientific articles in
WoS indexed Journals and perform some outreach activities. The grant
covers 2 to 3 years. A basic knowledge of the spanish language is
desirable but not mandatory. The postdoc position will take place in the
city of Valdivia, Chile. 

 The awarded candidates must start in March or April 2019 (to be
confirmed once the competition will be officially announced). The
candidate must have obtained a Ph.D. degree in January 2015 or later.  

The grant consists of about US$30000 per year, plus additional suport
for travels and health insurance. The precise figures, and additional
support details, will be specified in the bases of the competition.  

The competition consists of a research project, including a scientific
proposal, tasks schedule, and details of the use of the additional
financial resources. The candidate must send the proposal between a
period of 4 weeks once the competition is opened.  

The research lines to be considered are: (HIGHER SPIN) GRAVITY, QUANTUM
HALL EFFECT, SUPERSYMMETRIC QUANTUM MECHANICS AND NON-COMMUTATIVE
GEOMETRY. The candidate will integrate the emerging group of Núcleo de
Física Teórica at Universidad San Sebastián. 

The interested candidates should send a motivation letter addressed to
Mauricio Valenzuela, email FISICA.EVENTO en USS.CL, including a list of
publications, specifying research interest and experience.
