I am</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">writing to you in the interest of establishing a connection between IAPS</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">and the Physics students of the Universidad Nacional de la Plata.</span><br /> <br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">As a global network of students running for more than three decades, we</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">have been adding new members to our organisation every year with the</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">purpose of creating opportunities for students of Physics-related courses</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">to share knowledge, experiences and culture with fellow students from many</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">other countries.</span><br /> <br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">To that effect, one of the most important moments that IAPS has developed</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">is the International Conference of Physics Students</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;"><<a href="https://www.iaps.info/icps/what-is-icps/">https://www.iaps.info/icps/what-is-icps/</a>> (ICPS). This week-long adventure</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">joins hundreds of students from around 50 countries in a different city</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">each year to learn Physics through lectures and visits to labs and research</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">centres, contact with local culture and meeting other students, giving them</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">an opportunity to show their own work with posters and student lectures.</span><br /> <br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">This year, ICPS will be especially exciting, because it will be in Puebla,</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">Mexico <<a href="https://scj.org.mx/icps/">https://scj.org.mx/icps/</a>>, the first time it is held outside of</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">Europe! IAPS is in a particularly historic moment that gives us an</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">opportunity to start involving students from many countries that have not</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">had the opportunity to participate so far, including most of Central and</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">South America.</span><br /> <br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">Physics, like Science in general, is an international effort which requires</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">cooperation between people of many different countries, cultures and</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">backgrounds. We believe this means it is important for those who are not</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">yet professionals, but are studying Physics to develop connections as</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">students, because this will be helpful to them as professionals in the</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">future and it creates an early sense of community which is very important</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">in any collaborative effort, particularly one as challenging and</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">spectacular as Physics.</span><br /> <br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">Therefore, I would like to propose an online meeting with a representative</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">of your institution and a representative or group of Physics students with</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">the goal of determining how they can join our network and participate in</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">all of our activities. Jyri Genral, President of IAPS, and Lamborghini</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">Sotelo, President of the ICPS 2020 Organising Committee, are also receiving</span><br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">this email and will be following this process.</span><br /> <br /> <span style="white-space: nowrap;">Thank you very much for your attention.
