Good afternoon! 

I write to let you know that Rice University is hosting the 2022 Gulf
Coast Undergraduate Research Symposium [1] (GCURS) to be held on the
Rice University campus on Oct. 8-9 in Houston, Texas. We are looking
forward to welcoming students to our campus this fall!

Could you forward this email to any of your students or colleagues with
student researchers who might be appropriate for this event? A flyer can
be found here [2]. Please feel free to share this invitation widely. The
application [3] deadline is Sept. 1, and updates will be listed on the
GCURS website. 

GCURS is not your average poster session. It is a forum for
undergraduate researchers to present original research discoveries via
10-12 minute presentations supported by a slide deck. Faculty mentors
will give on-the-spot coaching and feedback to student participants. 

GCURS alumni have told us that this format is more interesting and
valuable than the traditional poster session. GCURS fosters
intercollegiate interactions among students and faculty who share a
passion for undergraduate research, and allows students to polish their
presentation skills. You can watch a video about GCURS here [4].

Applications are now open, and limited travel awards are available to
those traveling from outside the Houston area. Interested students
should apply online at gcursapply.rice.edu [5] by Sept. 1, 2022 at 10:59
PM CDT. Students should apply early to be considered for travel awards!

We look forward to meeting your students and learning about their
discoveries, and hope they will join us for a day of fellowship, science
